I’m viewing social media in a different light now. I know I’m at least 10 years too late, and that the internet is highly populated with blogs on topics I couldn’t imagine… but for me its all new. I’m on a lot of quilting email lists and have been an avid consumer of all things quilting for years… (ummm, don’t look at my stash) but have only started reading blogs recently. And WOW!… did I realise a great resource today. From a quilter (and so much more) that I’ve followed by email for a long time.

Towards the end of my stint as Education director for AQG in New Zealand, we were lucky to snaffle Brenda Gael Smith for a post Symposium teaching gig in Auckland. I learned that running a class in January in New Zealand is hot hot hot… sticky and uncomfortable… but Brenda was awesome. I made this quilt as a result of her class.

Now, I want to learn about things like image attribution, copyright, how to actually run a blog. And Brenda’s website, Serendipity Patchwork and Quilting,
https://serendipitypatchwork.com.au
is a treasure trove of information. She shares so much more than just quilting… and has screeds of posts and cool categories like Web Design, Copyright, Quilt Photography… her newsletter has a bunch of Exhibition Opportunities… She has curated numerous high profile, world wide traveling exhibitions, and is solidly down to earth. Thank you Brenda for sharing so much.

  1. welcome to the world of blogging! it is so much fun and a great way to document your quilting successes (and failures!) because as you know, we learn much from both 🙂
